Taking a page from the OpenRC project. I’ve been thinking anyone else keen on a collaboration project to design a open source printable pool cleaner. My thoughts on it: Running in water its Cool so PLA wont warp. Printable means you make your own repair parts. Pool cleaners can be as simple as 1 moving part or as complex as 2 gearboxes what switch movements patterns in 36 directions. ( for 3D printing I’m thinking the earlier model may be a better one)
Thing I’d worry about most is chlorine. Lots of people I know are too lazy to always keep their pH balanced, so they just shock their pool every couple of months.
Best here is to take any pool cleaner that was designed 20 years ago and copy all the parts, that way it will be guaranteed to be out of patent protection.
I’m rather guilty of that. I keep a floater in mine and if it changes color I dump 3-4 cups of chlorine in. I created this in 2014 and its still OK. the galvanized threaded rod has rusted but plastic is fine.
What about salt water
