Taking a short break from 3D Printing to work on my son’s balsa JU87, converting from rubber power to electrical R/C. The entire model is being covered by 1/32" balsa sheet soaked in water and bent to shape.
Funny how this kind of thing is why I bought a 3D printer to begin with.
Why not just use a heat shrink wrap?
As I am building my actual plane, I am building this one. The structure is a single monocoque structure, so the skin has to be solid to be stressed and take on the structural load.
These two hobbies go together well. You should try to print the motor mount for it
I plan to print the skeleton (bulkheads etc) at some point.
Ah man… I want to get back into this. no time no space.
I’ve got a half built Rufe that’s been sitting around from about 10 years ago.
I have one that’s ay least 5 years old still in its box
@Griffin_Paquette , I totally forgot, I have that printable Spitfire from 3D Print Lab (I think) that’s in my queue. Totally awesome model…what I would give to have a 1/2 scale replica for me to fly in my stable. I do think, though, that at least one project will be a 1/2 scale Fokker D VIII. All of this, of course, has nothing to do with 3D Printing…
For anyone who is interested, I have been asked to write an article on this project. Stay tuned!
