Taulman3d N-vent vs Colorfabb XT?

Taulman3d N-vent vs Colorfabb XT? Looks like they’re both made from the same polymer (Amorpha AM1800 by Eastman) and roughly the same price depending on where you buy. Colorfabb in the US can be bought from Printed Solid for $45 per 750g spool ($60 per kg). N-vent can be bought from Amazon Prime for different prices averaging $23.50 for a 1lb spool ($51.80 per kg).

@Nathan_Walkner unlike abs and pla which have been adapted to suit FFF 3d printing, AM1800 was developed specifically with extrusion in mind.

It is far and away the easiest material I have ever printed, and it out performs both abs and pla in every way.

If it was cheaper, I’d never print anything else.

i guess it is depending where you are located…
i get 2.2kg colorfabb xt for ~80 € (40 usd per kg) with shipping included directly from colorfabb.

Amphora 1800 is nice, it’s just hard to justify the cost vs. regular PETG.

@Jeff_DeMaagd Having printed extensively with both (Taulman Tech-G and N-vent) I can say 1800 is superior to PETG.

It prints far cleaner, over hangs are much neater, it’s more rigid, the surface finish is much nicer, and it holds colour much better.

PETG is an excellent prototyping material. But 1800 is perfectly suited to end use products.

It is nicer stuff, just I couldn’t justify the difference. Just when I got a nice print profile working for Atomic, I didn’t look back.

@Karl_Wyoung Well yeah if I lived in the EU I would buy a roll directly from Colorfabb. But I’m not paying $30 to ship it just because I live in the US.

@Justin_Morel So you would recommend the N-vent? I need some red filament so I may go for it.

Vs standard PETG, XT wins out every single time. Being in the UK means I can buy direct or get it from E3D, both work out to the same price. Yes, it’s expensive but it shows in the quality of the Prints. I will say, though that Extrudr PETG does come very close.

Like I’ve said, I live in the US so all this pricing information in the UK is useless to me. A 1 kg roll of PETG costs me only $25. So it’s literally twice the price for N-vent or XT.

@Adam_Steinmark I cannot recommend it enough. I’ve never personaly printed with the Colour Fab material, but N-vent is exquisite to print with.

Here are some of my results with red N-vent and Tech-G https://youtu.be/lbuLPkqUV4E

@Justin_Morel Very nice. What printer? Also Taulman doesn’t offer Tech-G anymore.

@Adam_Steinmark - My response was more a comment on print quality, and the pricing info was just there to support the fact that you can pick it up elsewhere. I’m not sure what shipping is like from E3D internationally on Filament, but you may find it to be a little cheaper.

@Ax_Smith-Laffin Yeah it seems like everyone is saying that it’s much better than PETG but I’m not sure the difference justifies the price, but there’s only one way to find out. E3D sells the filament $10 USD cheaper per spool but the cheapest shipping (non tracked) is $13 USD. So it’s $3 more and shipping is gonna take forever, I’d rather get it from Printed Solid which is one state over and ships for free.

@Adam_Steinmark heavily modified Velleman K8200. I also have an Ultimaker 2 clone. But to he honest the Velleman prints better quality, its just a little slow.

I did not know Taulman have discontinued Tech-G. Disappointing.

Tech-G shows as available for ordering on the Taulman site, in 1.75 and 2.85 sizes.

Seems I’m mistaken. I’m seeing it now, and also a mildly updated website. Not sure why it wasn’t showing up before.
