Testing out some super cheap wood fill filament so I figured lil Groot would make a good print ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2014307 ) the filament was only 15$ on Amazon with free shipping but it looks as if it has gone up to 25$ http://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WWJ9P6P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_V5zYybK9N3V6B

I want to print that little guy lol

Sweet!!

Very good

I like it

How good was the quality?

Still playing around with the filiment I can’t make a final verdict yet… This was my first print with it… It’s just slightly larger than 1.75mm I should have measured it first but I wanted to see how it ran with my standard Pla settings with the exception of the extrusion temp which was done at 192°c

I have baby groot on my list of first items to print when i get my 3D printer next month. So wood filament is really just good for display shelf pieces right?

It’s not nearly as strong as standard PLA… But it has an interesting texture with a more natural feel. I am going to attempt to use wood stain on it to see if it will take it

Keep us posted

Do keep us posted @Alex_Krause , I have a customer who’s interested in wood prints, but I’ve heard the quality is poor. Groot looks pretty good though! Be interested to hear how the staining goes, are you going to varnish as well?
