“That looks so dumb” , “its not dumb if it works”
Whats the dumb part?
the red spring clamps with fans zip-tied onto them, and wires just hanging there
I love it!!
That’s what i was going to say. Looks awesomely hacked and working great. I like it like that. No dumb in there for me.
I donno… The clips look a bit fancy and professional… Just double-sided taped my fans in place…
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it… Unless some crazy idea hits you and you own a 3d printer and you can make it work a different way!
My fan was on a bit of metal snipped out of an altoids tin until I printed a mount for it. Do I lose points?
For any of you making do with what you have and then fixing it later, keep in mind that any idiot can do things by the book with some cash, but it takes some brains to turn junk or leftover bits into something good. If it works and it did not cost anything (and maybe you avoided waiting for a multi-hour print to get there) then good for you.
Extra points for doing your own troubleshooting and hacks!! Bravo!!
I think it’s clever.
I was having issues with my extruder gear and bearing not “catching” the filament, which made some prints unfinished. Last night I carved a V-groove on the bearing with a bench grinder and now its gone. Filament catches better.
@Gino_o it sounds like you doubled the contact area on the bearing. Any idea why it worked? Do you think the filament was not in the right spot on the hobbled pulley?
its in the right spot, but im just having problems with it maintaining pressure on the filament for long prints. It just failed again on a 2 hour print. I’m suspecting that its the cheap quality filament too.
