That was a long day getting these through final assembly but pleased with end result. these represent a major (but not final) milestone on a long road of design and development that started over two years ago, I shall sleep well tonight!
Dual Drive Chimera/Cyclops extruders, weighing in at under 100 grammes (just), 40x58mm footprint, 40:1 gearing. Two units can be paired up facing each other to run with a 4 way Kraken hotend assembly.
Driven with custom flexible driveshafts which can be supplied in any length (standard lengths 750/850/1000mm). The design is based on the proven Flex3Drive G2 (2nd Gen) single filament extruders and includes quick release cam lever tensioners for easy filament changeover (even while the print is running), 1.75 or 3mm filament compatibility. Can run effortlessly at print speeds above 300mms (machine and filament dependent). Fully enclosed filament path to ensure flexible filaments run smoothly without wrapping around the hobb or buckling under the tensioner bearings. How you mix and match your filaments is up to you. 1.75 flexible in one side with with 3mm PET in the other, no problem, dual colour? No problem. These were a special pre-release order but they will soon be on the website for general availability. Some capacity for pre-orders if you cant wait. Dual JHead/Hexagon/E3D/Pico version will also be available along with another special 2into1…stay tuned
