The ballscrew for my Z-axis just came in. So did the pieces for my gantry. That’s almost all of the parts. Just need some more screws and my other ballscrew to be machined.
The size of the ballscrew looks small for the spindle. How will I know if it can handle the torque?missing/deleted image from Google+

Everything, but steel
If it fails or snaps, I’ll just have to get a new one, I guess…It’s made of steel though

I’ve used 1/4-20 plain threaded rod milling steel before with no problem. Although I took really shallow passes on the order of 3 or 4 thou. There was a moment during setup and testing where the bit welded itself to the stock when I crashed into it. I suspect you’ll be fine
Yes, I think so. I think the bit would break before the ballscrew
