The Big envelope printer is nearing it’s refurbishment (new Z axis, moving from iGUS to Sintered Bronze.)
It just needs the platform machined to size, and eventually, a 110V bed heater.
And tuning tuning tuning.
You’ll notice there’s no display or spinny knob…nor does there seem to be any endstops. I figured I only had to impress myself and I’ve gotten along very well without the display on the other printer, or a functioning endstop.
The G-code brings the extruder up to temp, pauses printing, and I set Z manually and then continue. 99 times out of 100…I don’t need to touch it after that.
Never seen the XY done that way interesting!
The belt path in the foreground of the second picture isn’t valid. As it moves, the shape of the belt changes, which means that the tension will change. This will wear the belt out faster, and it also means that your steps/mm value changes as the axis moves. You need to move the belt clamp (or the pulleys) so that the run of belt that connects to it is parallel to the direction of movement.
The wood dampens the sound. Or it did. The smoothieboard seems noisier than the RAMPS, but that could be tuning.
@Whosa_whatsis yup, the motor mount needs to be redesigned, it’s fatigued after a couple of years hard use.
Okay, I retract the last statement, and since Google doesn’t let us add photos to an existing thread, I’ll open another one.
