the ever popular bucket of failed prints.
what should i do with it (abs plastic)
You can try to put it in recycling, they might take it. (Our’s won’t because they have no way of know what material it is). If you can’t recycle, throw it to the garbage.
There are plans out there for devices to chip up failed prints and re-extrude them into new filament, but I haven’t seen anyone selling a complete machine yet.
@Mark_Rehorst in many cases, the trash is the greenest solution. Recycling plastic sometimes generates more pollution that it saves.
@John_Bump i wanted tp get one of those but i wanted a way to use the old prints like melt the, down with acatone and use that to hold prints on the bed
You can either throw them out or head to Soliforum and give them to someone that recycles material. There is a steady community of folks over there that make DIY filament and some that recycle. Here’s a good post. http://www.soliforum.com/search/1179114666/
A good rule of thumb for reusing it seems to be 80% virgin material, 20% recycled material. The recycled plastic needs to be ground so it can work in whatever pellet extruder so unless you are extruding your own material and have the tools and methods, there is a pretty big barrier to entry as well as learning curve.
i just melted it with acetone and im using it to glue stuff to the bed.
I have a ton of plastic. Unfortunately none of it is organized and it’s not just one material. At this point I’m gonna trash it but I’m gonna try to organize it for when I inevitably get a recycler.
@dstevens_lv Can you post a new link? It just says your search returned no results.
@Adam_Steinmark Search “regrind” from the site and several links come up. Here’s the direct link to the post referenced earlier. http://www.soliforum.com/topic/7844/abs-mg94-regrind-abs/
