The height adjustment and the spring tension adjustment won’t be completely independent, but at least I’ll be able to adjust the spring tension independent of the height.
It doesn’t need to be this complicated, but since the bot has a steampunk theme anyway, I’m not all that hung up on simplicity at this juncture.
By the way, the first gif shown here with simple grub screws on the sides of the clamp for the corner of the bed, but the actual grub screws have nylon tips (see the third pic in the album). This may help a little bit to reduce friction when probing, but is critical to electrically isolate the clamp from the mount everywhere except for the screw on top (the spacer under the spring is also non-conductive), which will act as the contact switch / end stop.
@D_Rob I’ve got a few mm to spare at 0,0, but it is possible these contraptions will eat into the max build area a little. I may have to use the Cura feature designed to help one avoid hitting the bed clips if the overall loss in build area seems unreasonable (or of course I could machine away a bunch of the superfluous material on top). We’ll see.
@Simon_Day Yeah, I’m still thinking about that part. I may make the single, non-corner mount (the one that attaches to the middle of the opposite side) have a removable top if I can figure out how to do that without making the thing too much bigger still.
Where did you find those parts. I think this would work great for my flash forge creator x. I have a think glass bed but I’m using dog clips to hold it on. Printed ABS clips but the didn’t work well popped of.
