The idea of having fans that I could direct at will seemed like a good one, except that I only ever changed their direction by accident because the mounting clips were too finicky and unstable.
So I finally got around to designing a fixed mount to replace it with and I’m hoping for good things from it. Fingers crossed.
@Mark_Rehorst They put out a decent amount, but I’ve definitely found there to be a sweet spot as far as how much “choke” is effective. With some choke, I suspect you actually get slightly cooler air out of the ends of the ducts as the compression to get through the opening allows the air to expand as it comes out (expanding gases are cooler). I haven’t tried to do the math or take measurements to confirm my suspicions either theoretically or empirically however. The reason I put some choke on the ducts is really just to direct the flow closer to the nozzle. Mine are offset by a few degrees also so they are not blowing directly at each other. If you choke the duct too much it creates more back pressure than the fan can reasonable overcome and you can feel a decent amount of air coming out of the back of the fan. These might be slightly tighter than is ideal, so if I print them again I may widen the opening a little. Alternately I may just break off the top few layers to make a bigger holes.
