The motors on my CNC get really very hot in use. A while ago I bought some PC case fans with the idea of adding a little cooling.
Today i finally got around to wiring things up and mounting the fans. I have no particularly scientific way to judge the effectiveness. Just hoping it helps.
At some point I may try to add some sort of cowling to better direct the airflow over the motors.
@Antonio_Eduardo_Mart the easy drivers already limit to 750mA Max so I think that’s fine. I guess time will tell if hot is too hot or not.
I have seen and experienced this when using 1/4 stepping mode on my older steppers. They can run hot safely for the most part. They also make heat sinks for the various nema frame sizes that should help spread the heat out more, and increase the effectiveness of the fans.
@Jake_Vickers I do have a pair of small heat sinks on each motor. They aren’t specially for the motors, so probably are not as effective as ones tailored for them.
