The new Velleman 3D printer, the K8400, is slated for end of oktober.
It will be direct printing. ABS print on something called BuildTak, which does not need heating. Price seems good (I see shops allowing preorder of 699Eur), but it is a build package, so you have some work to do on arrival (though they claim much easier than the K8200).
I could test the K8200 and it was a solid printer as repraps go. The K8400 seems like an improvement overall going in the direction of the Makerbot replicator at a far lower price (trapezoid spindle at the back, ABS 1.75mm as default, direct print).
The velleman offices are not far from where I live, and a prototype I saw there looked nice. Nevertheless, delivery mid November, worthwhile to wait? I need a new printer for a makerspace the coming months…
