The other day a made a post about how my 3D printer was still

The other day a made a post about how my 3D printer was still clicking and not printing properly. We had pretty much came to the conclusion that the hot end needed to be changed. Well before I went and ordered something I thought I would just take the whole thing apart and see if I could just get it working. I cleaned the nozzel and other parts with acetone, scraped out any gunk I could find, shortened the plastic tube inside the hot end and jammed an Allen wrench through it a bunch of times to make sure it was free from any debris or tight spots, took the motor apart, shimmed the extruder and then put it all back together. Now look at it go! I’ve been able to pump the speed way up and it’s still doing well! The only issue with this print is that the corner of the brim lifted up a little but it isn’t affecting the part itself at all. I hope I’ve finally gotten this thing dialed in or at least close to it because it’s been like a month. If you pros happen to see something that sticks out, feel free to mention it. Also, I might hold off on buying new parts if this thing keeps working.

I think nozzles accumulate debris and are helped by the occasional vigorous cleaning.

My Clicking Extruder stopped when i dropped that ridiculous EMax acceleration from 10000 to 500. no more problem my Hello bee prusa print speeds almost doubled

Congrats on clearing the nozzle out. I print ABS at 80 mm/s, but the firat layer at 40 mm/s. I hope you are not ramping up the speed on the first layer.

that E ´max 10000 because after leaving corner extruder tries to start extruding as fast as possible. Aka infinite acceleration but the stepper motor can not do that. So it stars skipping. so instead using infinite acceleration use fast as possible the stepper can handle. For me 500 is enough.

i have almost solved 80 mm/s with PLA Yes Slower outer layers and bottom layer. And good quality. For now i use Hellobeeprusa with Raps128 32 micro steps and 4.4Kg/cm Stepper motors 1.68A all but extruders have 1,1Vref. Extruders reference is at 1,4V. Tomorrow i get 5.9Kg/cm Stepper motors 2A . So i might need to raise the amps. Raps128 should be able to give 2.2 amps out. With that extra 1.5Kg/cm torque i should be able to get more speed out from my printer.

Pressures build up and take time to release in hotends so a high accelleration does not make much sense. Hmmm…come to think of it, I need to check mine.

@Jukka-Pekka_Ylitalo I have no idea what any of those numbers mean…

Jerk is how fast it can change direction, acceleration is change in speed

@NathanielStenzel no, it wasn’t until I knew it was doing ok. I started at 100% (which I think is like 15 or 20mm/s) and increased it 4 times in 25% intervals. So I would guess that it’s at 30-40mm/s. But that’s the speed of the I side supports. The outer layers run much faster. I think at like 80mm/s because the original speed was set at 40mm/s.

Well yeah this is always an option. It printed like this when new didn’t it? But if you don’t want to take apart your printer frequently, invest in a hotend that works better.

@Adam_Steinmark no it didn’t print like this when it was new because I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Lol. I felt like I was to a point where I should be getting prints but the thing just wouldn’t print properly. But I finally finished this print and it looks pretty good! Not perfect but definitely usable and MUCH better than the previous one I printed out. I may still order a new hot end, PTFE tube and some nozzels though. I feel like it could only help compared to the stock crap.

@Kevin_Danger_Powers Those numbers Are from marlin firmware Jerks Are speed that steppers can keep after Change of direction or retract Before Acceleration. Feedrates Speed The maximum speed that Steppers can Accelerate. Max Acceleration Is Acceleration That Acceleration tries to get. Like When my Acceleration is 1000 But my Max Acceleration is 500 for Extruders it mean’s that my extrudes can not Accelerate that fast.
