The R7 is up and running and working on tearing up plywood and trying

The R7 is up and running and working on tearing up plywood and trying to get the whole speeds and feeds thing under control. I am having a problem getting my bits mounted straight in the spindle collet which causes them to wobble. For example, I’m getting about 0.6 mm difference between the position of the 2 flutes when I rotate a 1/4" straight bit (~1" below collet). Is this normal? Is there any trick to minimizing the wobble? I did crash a stopped bit into the side of some plywood 2 or 3 times so I’m wondering if I have bent the shaft. I have 1/8", 4mm,and 1/4" bits/collets to work with and it is unlikely I have bent them all (yet).

Any tips or advice wuld be appreciated.

Do all of your bits have the wobble or just that one?

Sounds like you are either not fitting the collet properly or have a very bad collet. The collet should snap into place in the nut and have a little wiggle but be definitely clipped in.

Seems to be all of them and I’m not feeling anything like the collet snapping or clicking into the nut.

So the collect goes into the nut first, then the bit. Doh!
Yeah, that worked better on the first attempt than trying bit into collet first. Now less than 0.1mm difference and some of that is sloppy measuring. Time to spin it up!

Thanks guys!

I had that same problem a few months ago. It was worked through on here as well!
