The SLS Printed #Drakon Extruder Prototype came in today. Printed in Graphite infused Nylon for a smooth filament path. A couple of small tweaks (mainly tolerances) and the body should be production ready.
Very cool Ax
Neat. Do you have any secondary operation(reaming) to smooth the filament path?
@Thomas_Cox - not yet, the main goal is to get the design production ready at the moment. After that it’s looking at producing a shaft that doesn’t involve manually filing a flat on it to stop the Hobbed gear Spinning. That being said, the Majority of the path is PTFE tubing after the Hobb. Think of this as a 3D Printed Titan, using off-the-shelf parts.
Uh I like that
I have printed (fdm) two of those and they both work like a dream! Excellent design @Ax_Smith-Laffin !
@Yiannis_Mandravellos - Thanks. I’ve run the FDM versions fora good 1000+ hours now. They’ve not failed me once.
