The stuff we manage to do on-the-clock here @ DeltaMaker…

The bar lost a good man yesterday. The practice of law will never be the same without him. sniff

that’s nice that you’ve narrow the time of death down

The delta resolution ripple is real!

You are going to need some clear epoxy.

@Thomas_Sanladerer I’ve been fighting these ripples on my delta for a while, any tips on how to counteract this issue? What causes it?

@Alex_Lee i haven’t had to deal with these myself, yet, since my personal delta prints with no discernible ripples (yay smoothieboard ), but my educated guess would be the same thing that causes ripples like these for cartesian machines - microstepping inaccuracies. If you’ve got some of the more advanced drivers like the Trinamic chips, try out their different settings, otherwise, simply reduce the current to your motors.

@Thomas_Sanladerer Thank you for the tips as always. I’m actually running mine on a Smoothieboard also, but your suggestion about the Trinamic chips just gave me a good excuse to buy some!

Some great inventions and discoveries came from goofing off…never quit playing!

@Thomas_Sanladerer @Alex_Lee The ripples can occur even if your microstepping is perfectly linear. On my Bukito, the motion and extrusion are so precise that I can count the microsteps in X/Y (less than .01mm) on a face that’s angled just right (depending on the filament). I’ve also seen another type of ripples on other cartesian bots as an artifact of platform compensation (“auto bed leveling”) rounding errors.

Last I heard, the Deltamaker printers’ platform compensation algorithm (which is not the same one used by most deltabots) caused some error patterns that look like this (on some machines more than others), so that’s probably what’s going on here.

@Whosa_whatsis Thank you for chiming in. Do you have any ideas of what could cause the concentric circles at the base? I see those in all my prints, and the circles are of all different sizes and different positions as far as I can tell.

@Alex_Lee Unless you have a Deltamaker, yours are probably different from these in an important (but possibly subtle) way. I’d probably have to see yours to really say anything about the cause beyond what has been said here already.

@Whosa_whatsis Always appreciate your input, thanks!
