The Touch Plate feature using GRBL works great for me,

The Touch Plate feature using GRBL works great for me, however I am unable to get the Auto-Level feature to work (for milling a PCB). As soon as the end mill touches the copper, it stops probing. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Using GRBL 0.9j

I’m not a Grbl guy, so wondering if firmware i is different from j? I’ve seen most people on i in the past. Somebody else posted about this like a day or two ago. He said it didn’t work in xpix workspace, but did work in Grbl workspace.

PCB autolevel probing works fine on grbl workspace, as well as on xpix workspace. The probe pin should be connected to Arduino Uno A5 and the other wire connected to the tool. Please check wiring diagram here (grbl 0.9 on second picture): https://github.com/grbl/grbl/wiki/Connecting-Grbl

Try to change the wires, GND to A5 / A5 to GND. This work’s most for me.

Yea I had to flip flop my wires on my probe too. It didn’t make much since to me, but it worked. Hard to argue with results.

I will try these suggestions and report back.
It’s strange that Touch Plate works (ChiliPeppr response back with a new Z Zero command), but Auto-Level does not see the response.

I’ve had issues with the touch plate widget. I never got them resolved. I’ve had to stop trusting it because I don’t trust that I am getting repeatable results. A video I made: https://youtu.be/gvjScU1ebi0

Update: I finally got it working. Seem like an order of operations issue, when using both the Auto-Level and Eagle BRD import features.
This was the first time I am using both.
