The ultimate MakerBot / Flashforge upgrade by Raffle.

The ultimate MakerBot / Flashforge upgrade by Raffle.

Well respected within the printing community for his high quality machined aluminium upgrades, Carl Raffle has designed and developed the Clone R1, the next evolution in FFM 3D printing.

While many of the new manufactures are just repackaging / branding existing technology, Raffle has taken the best of the replicator style printers and designed out the points of failure or weakness.

What’s great is that there are options to order it as an upgrade kit for your existing MakerBot Replicator, Flashforge etc.

This is a prosumer printer in its beta stage of development. It’s not the cheapest printer out there but you get a huge amount for your money. As an incentive for joining the beta program, Raffle is offering free worldwide courier delivery and will even discount the value of any previous upgrade supplied by him.

Some of the Clone R1 highlights –

  • Core –XY motion, giving improved speed, accuracy and print quality.

  • Fully supporter linear glides for all axis.

  • Machined aluminium for all components except the cooling fans, end stops and linear glide end caps.

  • Can safely handle extruding temperatures of up to 280 degrees Celsius.

  • Modular design ethos allows for dual and single extruder options.

  • Quick swap hot ends for, ease of maintenance, custom material setups, etc.

  • Single extruder Build Volume - 300mm(X) x 200mm(Y) x 200mm(Z)

  • Dual extruder Build Volume – 260mm(X) x 200mm(Y) x 200mm(Z)

I have no affiliation with Raffle apart from purchasing his upgrades to get my Makerbot R2X run as advertised…. I’ve also placed an order of an assemble Beta Dual Clone R1 and wish Carl ever success with this new and exciting venture.

Many of us have followed the development of the Clone R1 on his Clone Google Group. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/clone3d
