There have been a lot of people showing off what their new all-metal hot ends can do, and now that I’ve finally got my new E3D hot end installed on my MM, I figure I’ll jump on the bandwagon. Here’s a print of the “Ultimate Extruder Calibration Test” (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9804). I’m especially impressed at how well the bridging worked in the absence of the fan I used to have around my old makergear hot end. The bridges have sagged a little, but the bridging filaments were much smoother, and there’s much less stringing and ooze in general than I’d been used to seeing. And this is in red PLA, which has been a bit more tricky to work with than some of the other colors I’ve used.

After seeing @Mike_Smith and his E3D hot end, I’m definitely doing to be getting one as soon as I can afford it. Might have to buy it part-by-part though =D

Well, the ability to change out nozzles is kind of nice. Imagine what you would do if you accidentally got a ball bearing in the Prusa Nozzle…how the hell do you clean THAT out?

That’s cool

Whoa! I’m impressed! Is there any info around about how to build it? Or have you purchased it?
Anyway congrtulations for your new-high performance hot end.

@ThantiK just get the barrel out and heat it to 300, nozzle pointing up. Then tap it against some metal and its totally clean.

But yes, atm e3d wins for me too (i have both)

AFAIK you can only get it at e3d-online, which is in the UK

It was some thing like $7 when I ordered min and it got here in under 7 days.

@Michael_Hohensee Glad you like it! There was some tweaking between v4.1 and v5 that was intended to reduce heat radiating towards the print and snagging/dragging of the nozzle across slightly up-curling areas. It was mainly suck-it-and-see engineering, but it seems to have made a noticeable difference.

@John_Ridley We ship a tonne of these extruders to the US - it’s our biggest market. We charge something like £8-9 shipping and from dispatch to arrival averages around 5 days. I’d really like to get a a US reseller worked out, but so far not much seems to have come to fruition despite trying.

@Sanjay_Mortimer I wonder if ladyada at @Adafruit_Industries would be interested in distributing. She seems to have more stuff each time I visit.

Looks great
