There was a “Himalayan salt crystal” lamp at Fred Meyer on clearance for only $14.99. I instantly thought “I could make an awesome LED mood light out of that!!” So here is what happened 5 minutes after I got homes rapped a strip of LEDs around a ladle handle (temporary of course) and uploaded fire2012withpalette. I’m thinking of slowing It way down and adding some twinkles.

Wow… VERY cool. Love the mix of digital and natural materials…

Thank you! I’m excited to continue exploring how to code it too, that’s always been my weak point. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve gotten better over the past few weeks with help from everyone on the FastLED community though! However I still have A LOT to learn.

I have one of those on my desk I am going to hook up like this as a night light for my friends’ baby. They really do make beautiful natural diffusers!

Nice! Now that I think of it, I actually might buy a few more and use them as VU-Meters on top of my speakers! I’m almost always listening to music as you probably hear in my videos. Haha.

Very cool and cheap lamp I bought and am going to throw a pile of LED’s in. Great diffusion.

Very nice indeed… Great look and light diffusion in the same package !

I’ve been wanting to do something like this with quartz points! this is much cooler/bigger though, I might have to see if I can find one online!

There are tons of them on eBay!

@Ryan_Clough I made a quartz lamp a while back. Check out some of my older posts here for pics and videos of it in action!

I’ve been meaning to go back to it and update it with some of the new functions in FastLED, but have been too busy and focused on my new project. I hope to spend a bunch of time on these when I have a bunch of time off this winter.
