there we have it:

3d printer ready stepper+temp sensor+position feedback drivers.
pricy, sure, but in time they’ll get cheaper and cheaper

So, the mechaduino, but using another driver carrier. The thing I think the mechaduino has over this though (once firmware is better developed) is that commutation, etc can be more than just step/dir pulses. It can integrate thing like randomized pwm timings for lower noise, or other motor control strategies as firmware moves forward.
@ThantiK why didn’t this pop up in my searches?! thanks! I think the point of the ustepper is to have just these features - but that should make it cheaper… either way, mechaduino looks awesome
Awesome, and xmas is coming.

meee… @ThantiK
I think the Mechaduino project started with uStepper as the base, but I can’t find the discussion on that.
@Jeff_DeMaagd did it ever ship? Id like to here from someone who has it.
Mechaduino has shipped, I know someone that backed it. He hasn’t gotten around to using it though.
@Jeff_DeMaagd ah well let him know that there are ppl that would test it for him:).
After watching the video of them making the printer skip on purpose and it fixing it self… I so want.
