Thermistor not going anywhere, continuous strip of Kapton running twice round the hot end.

Thermistor not going anywhere, continuous strip of Kapton running twice round the hot end. This is how my J-head was taped up, I printed at mostly 245C and it never once extruded itself.

I’m rebuilding my i2 with new electronics and an E3D hot end, slightly disappointed that their instructions have a flimsy bit of Kapton holding the thermistor in, at least there’s nothing to melt. :smiley:

That looks very tidy, I think I’ll try that myself, how did you make the hole for the heater? Just poke it with something sharp?

@Liam_Jackson Wrap the tape round the thermistor (I had to pre-cut my tape to the right width), then use an exacto blade to cut the holes for the heater.

@Bracken_Dawson need to get one of those knives, sounds useful!

Has anyone had any issues with Kapton tape when extruding above 260deg C? That is the specified upper thermal limit.
I have wondered if it would be better to wrap the heater block with insulation then tape.

@Liam_Jackson Any sharp knife will do, I just used exacto as an ideal example, I actually used a Victorinox pen knife.

Nice clean work @Bracken_Dawson

@Marc_Pearson Yes. :smiley:
