These gears have given me the hardest time. But I finally got it. 0.1 layer with this upgraded fan shroud, use the extra strength craft bond glue stick and bam, perfect print. Some of the underhang is a bit rough but that’s what it is.

The issue with underhang being really bad was fixed by changing craftware to output fan on off at 255 instead of 100.

Is it ABS?

It is PLA.

What temperature settings are you using for the extruder and the bed, and what are you actually seeing on the bed? My bed seems to be getting much hotter than expected.

I am printing at 210/70. I don’t have a way to measure the temp at the bed level but I tried different bed temp and 70 works the best. The trick for sticking things to the bed well is the Craft Bond Super Strength stick. Available at walmart for <$3 per 25g.

Have you tried a lower extruder temp? I typically run mine at 180c

Nicely done. Whenever I’ve tried this all the gear teeth have curled up into little flower petals.

I have tried but it didn’t turn out well for my print. My current settings work extremely well for my printer so I think I will stick with it a while until I hit another thing that I cannot print :-). These gears used to give me a headache with bed adhesion but no longer.

I have not tried it with ABS. My guess is the bonding works due to the glue and not to the material. If you have used hairspray with your ABS, then this glue should be similar but more direct application. It’s only a few bucks as well.

Hair spray works very well but you must use extra hold stuff and use it on bare glass, not tape
