It seemed at least this is steel maybe hardened steel.
For comparison the plastic tube is 6-7mm
Yes, i use it in my Merlin hotend. It works very nicely.

@Bjorn_Marl Do you know what type of material they usually are? Hardened steel? Other?
@Shai_Schechter Afaik steel. I had little problems with wear and tear, only very strong mechanical force ever killed one for me. Abrasion has never been a problem.
