Yes it lights the display.
I have found mine at Walmart. They carry a variety of sizes. They cost so much less than standard project boxes.

In the UK, Hobby craft have them for about £0.69
@Don_Rideaux-Crenshaw I see some at Walmart in the craft section, and sometimes dollar stores will have them too.
