Things were really starting to go well, but then!...

Things were really starting to go well, but then!.. My @Printrbot hotend overheated the other night during an unattended print. Does anyone think it can be repaired after this kind of damage?

you can get a new peek block, the rest should be okay

Hmmm, i already took some pliers to it trying to break the PEEK insulator away from the rest, but no luck. I did just opened a support ticket with @Printrbot so I might wait to see what they say.

You really need to determine the root cause of the failure. You probably have a faulty thermistor connection, as the firmware should not allow the hotend to overheat otherwise. Given that this is a dangerous failure mode, especially when unattended, this really should be fixed prior to ever leaving it unattended again. Good luck, and be safe

My thermistor’s wire snapped from fatigue (poorly anchored) and it shutdown the printer (Simple 2014).

Bummer! Any clue as to what went wrong?

My only thought is that there was/is some sort of electrical problem causing an erroneous reading. I was able to do more printing after this happened, although the quality wasn’t good, it hasn’t shown any more signs of overheating.
I ordered some replacement parts from QUBD so I should be up and running soon… Just in time do do all the mods I’m designing!
