Thinking about buying a printer in the next two weeks.

Thinking about buying a printer in the next two weeks. Some background on me:
Would like it to be versatile and capable of larger volume prints, but without losing the quality and resolution. Portability isn’t a huge concern. I might like to print things for around the house, tinkering, and just fun (maybe board game stuff for friends).
I’d also like to assemble it myself if possible.

trying to decide between a :
Mendalmax2
Air wolf XL
and a tri-mendal.

Anyone have thought or concerns on any of these 3?
I know this shouldn’t matter, bit if it’s sitting next to me, I do like the look of the air wolf. I also like the 3 colors to play with on the tri-mendal, but the mendal 2 looks like the best overall package.

Hi mic, yes it is. I assembled a thingomatic, but left the company before I got to use it. I am now a plastics engineer with another company. But this will just be for personal endeavors.

I would go for a Mendel90 or a Prusa I3 kit. Ultimaker is amazing if you can afford it.

I currently have a Mendelmax 2.0, it’s amazing, and the support is outstanding

I have a mendelmax 2 and it is amazing! Much sturdier than a prusa i2 I had before. The extruder never messes up (direct drive and jhead ). My maker gear and Greg’s extruder worked but not as bulletproof.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. Glad to hear you are happy with your mendalmax 2 's Stephen and ken

@Shachar_Weis have you heard of an i3XL? I found this online and was intrigued. https://shop.diytechshop.com/?q=content/i3xl-prusa-i3-lg-9x12x7-build For the price, am I missing something?

I’ve heard of the MakerFarm I3 kit, but not that. Looks ok from the pictures, but otherwise I have no idea.

@Brett_Giesler beware of kits that are cheap but don’t have much support in the forums. Since you’ve built a thingomatic, I assume you are pretty accustomed to using the forums for help. Please do not repeat my mistake and buy for price. I bought a lower priced Kickstarter, so I was really screwed. But you generally get what you pay for. But looks like you’ve got some great advice from the other guys, good luck and keep us posted on what you get

Thanks for all the feedback. After running through multiple options, I think I’m going to go with the Makerfarm kit. Saw a few people online that really have had a good experience, and it looks like a really good value for the money. Also, looks like a great resolution capable on the printer, especially for the 600$ range.

I’ll probably be spraying the wood pieces to add a little color to the mix.

Thanks again!
