Thinking out loud here, if you could ask for anything what would you like to see as the next OpenRC project (and why)?
FPV multicopter
A Rock crawler with diff locks.
A realistic scale 4x4 is what I’d be after. Something like a Toyota FJ-40 or a Mercedes Unimog. Full interiors, and engine compartments. Hide the electric motor in the model engine. I think 3d printing really has the potential to show itself off in a runnable model. The hard part is being good enough to model something like that in cad and make it work. It’s my long term goal anyways…
Hot Rod Ford 1932 will be my next long term project but just after my Truggy I will make a FPV multicopter as well.
The Hot Rod project is just because I love those cars , nothing else
A monster truck!
RC Tank with a nerf or airsoft cannon.
does that need any more reason why?
I have an old kyosho usa1 monster truck that I am makeing parts to getting it back running again. But I really like the idea of a scale truck because it would not put a ton of stress on the drive train because scalers are for showing off there appearance and not doing 60 mph with giant brushless motors.
I’d love a trike, 2 front wheels, 1 rear, like the T-rex 2 seater “car”, with a FAT back wheel. As for why? : it’s somewhat unique.
Volkswagen made a concept car like that called the gx3. That would be cool and different. Could use belts for the drive train.
rock crawler with motor mounted diffs…
Something that flies. Or a 1:8th buggy, which is basically the same thing
Monster truck or Rock Crawler, I’m researching how to make lexan bodies out of any RC body that I print on my 3d printer. So as in, print the 3d body out, piece it together, then make the lexan mold for it.
@Thomas_Sanladerer 1:10 buggys then? Not interesting?
@Daniel_Noree a 1:10th buggy could use the same platform as the truggy, sharing most parts of the drivetrain, steering and so on. Some parts would need to change in their dimensions and somewhat in their kinematics, but not in functionality.
I’d think that would be a fairly straightforward extension of the OpenRC lineup - and also a model that i’d probably print for shits and giggles
