I would think it would work well. I use an OLD computer with a old touch screen for my RepRap. My tablet is faster than the computer.
It would be nice to have the tablet mounted to the printer chassis and use the camera to stream a print video.
My wife picked up a $50 7" tablet with USB OTG and a barrel jack power source. I think I will be trying a Android print controller soon.
