This guy Javier Ramos sums up 3D printing so well, and he’s also doing something about it! “We” are thinking about 3D printing with the wrong head on, we are thinking of how can we do what we already do with 3D printing, where as the real potential is in the combination of materials and the way they are put together. Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) are using machine vision to enhance the printing process. Javier Ramos says the whole design paradigm will have to change. This new design paradigm will require new hardware, new software, new platforms and Engineers to think in new ways.
