This is a Marlin vs Repetier firmware question.

I want to tune a bit the firmware in order to add support to rgb leds that change color depending of bed temperature and a few more dumb things like that (it all can be done with gcode, but i wanna do it slicer independent). Since it wil take me some time to code that (i havent coded in years), i want to do it on the firmware that i will use in the near and long future.

SO, i cannot make my mind upon using Marlin or Repetier. I have used both and i like both, but Marlin now haves volumetric support and is more used by the community, but repetier multiple extruders is way nicer (configurable esteps for each extruder).

So, if you would be in my shoes, what would you choose?. Im open to any suggestion.

Should hook it up with hardware! A thermistor, power source and resistor would probably be enough, I’m not up to scratch with circuits but I reckon you could find a how to on how to hook up temp controlled lights… Then - new firmware, or even new bot, you can just use the same lights plug and play (meaning your issue of being locked on a certain firmware isn’t an issue anymore)
