This is an amazing robot arm in the fact that it looks a lot more like an industrial arm than most builds. It’s all 3D printed too!

I’m going to have to start printing the parts for this. I regularly get asked “what is 3d printing good for other than just making little trinkets and vases”. I want to have this thing on the table and moving.

This is part 5 of my robot arm project. This time I updated the shoulder joint with a dc motor driven one. It is finally powerful enough to drive the arm.

DC motors? I’d use steppers for the joints and a RAMPS board so I could control it with Gcode, have it able to return to a set spot each time. It could make a nice pick and place device with a suitable grip at the end.

I’d like to try this with the Kysan geared steppers and a printrboard. Neat idea to sidestep loop belt! I like how professional it looks but I think I’d like to try my typical minimalist design. Perhaps I’ll do a less bulky arm that prints fast and on a 6x6 bed.

@Brook_Drumm , if you take care of the steppers and board I will make the rest!

Having watched the video I see he uses both. DC with the orange print, steppers with blue.

Nice Guy
