This is another Vase I printed and it came out ok but there are some layer problems. Going to take the guys recommendations tonight and see if I can solve the Gap problem.
When printing objects with a single wall, and using “Spiral vase” mode in Slic3r I find it best to manually set the Extrusion width, in Printer Settings… Advanced, rather than letting Slic3r choose the width (Auto “0”). You want a thick wall, but preferably a low-ish layer height.
Thanks @Ivor_O_Shea , I try that tonight. My other print printed vase had some small gaps between the layers. Especially at the high points. I printed a 25mm cube before that and it was fine.
Setting a wide extrusion width, relative to the height, reduces the risk of gapping in a single wall print (presuming all other basic printing calibration is good).
Thanks @Ivor_O_Shea
I wonder if you’ve got the z steps set in the firmware accurately. It could explain why you see issues for taller objects perhaps. Easy enough to check.
@Richard_Mitchell , the strange thing is that when I print a 25mm cube it come out amassinly good. Also the small gaps are Random and not in a line or at the same level. Very strange.
Are the motors turned on always during the print I had issues with x carriage shifting on my i3. There’s a setting in marlin somewhere.
I did not know that you can turn off the motors. The motors move every few seconds , wonder why it would tun it off for such a short time. I have a look in Marlin and see thanks. @Richard_Mitchell
OK I think it’s disable_z I’m thinking of.
No just checked , its set to False , which is fine. Did another print tonight and it slightly there, its not gap now but abit raised. Only in some places.
