This is fun…
Wasn’t planning on turning my MPCNC into MP3DP, but couldn’t resist. Titan, Volcano, 1.2mm nozzle. Got roughly a 450x480mm bed as currently configured. Loving the janky-ness of this beast.

I’ve seen many ‘makes’ of the MPCNC that are tall like yours. It makes me curious – why so high, and isn’t it wobbly? Also, I’ve seen many videos featuring newly commissioned MPCNCs, but I haven’t seen posts by makers after a few months of use. I’d love to hear your opinions after you’ve been using yours for some time, and would you choose to make one again, or spend the extra money for a [Shapeoko, X-Carve,etc].

It’s pretty stout. I don’t imagine it would be a whole lot more rigid if it was, say, half as tall in Z. For me, it wasn’t really about money as much as I pretty much had all the materials available. I didn’t really ‘need’ a CNC, but for less than $100 I could make one. If I was going to use one a lot, the x carve seems like a pretty good deal for what you get.

I should add, if you didn’t have my materials for the MPCNC, I probably would spend the extra $500 or so for the x carve.
