He really should use a Carmine 1.09 instead of a standard Kinect.

@Shachar_Weis really $200 vs $40 I know which one I buy if I was doing large object scans. Not everyone can throw money around.

But the difference would be day and night. I don’t understand the “throwing money” argument. The entire scanner can be classified as “throwing money”.

@Shachar_Weis Actually I have a Carmine 1.09 and don’t like it for Full Body scans. The focal distance of the lens is about half that of the kinect, so instead of a capture in 3-4 rotations, it takes ~ 6 rotations due to the narrower angle of view. Consequently, there is a much greater possibility of the subject moving. Its good for busts, but for this application Kinect or Carmine 1.0.8 are better.
