This is most definitely a killer feature - now we just need to go full circle with Cura automatically suggesting print settings for certain parts!

Does this cup need to be printed with a 0% infill? Does it need a solid top? Learn from others who have printed it by using the “Wisdom of the crowd”. Because Ultimaker develops both YouMagine and Cura, we’re able to offer you this unique feature that will make 3D printing easier. It also allows novice users to learn from the pro’s. We thought it was already too useful and interesting not to release it, but we’re just getting started with this feature!
How are the user settings data collected? Do the users have to submit it, or is it automatic? If they have to submit it, the data are probably better, but harder to obtain; if collected automatically, it had better be with consent.
@SirGeekALot Cura asks for concent on first startup. The data is annomunous. And the model is hashed. So we can not see the model you sliced. Unless we have exactly the same model, and thus can generate the same hash.
The data is send wheb you save gcode or start streaming it to your printer.
No names. No models. No IP adresses.
We also like our own privacy. (Maybe we like to print dildos. But we like it that nobody knows that for sure)
