This is the finished front cowling for the cut-away model jet engine that I am building. Some of the pictures of compressor blades were posted earlier.
That’s an extremely nice finish on the cowling pieces. Is that the result of an acetone bath and spray paint, or is there another fancier trick at work?
No special trick unfortunately, acetone bath and paint.
Amazing quality! I’m envious! What printer were these done on?
Mostly done on my UP! Plus (because of the superior handling of support structures), but also on my Rostock Max and Lulzbot A0-101 printers that I built.
@David_Da_Costa I’d actually say “fortunately”… it looks awesome
I used fine Tamiya model primer, then Rustoleum spray paint, which does have acetone in, but over the primer had no effect on the ABS.
