This is what I made today.

This is what I made today.
A universal spool-roller using 608 bearings and can be assembled via screw & snap-in pin (no bolts and nuts are required). It consists of two roller units and stand. And it can be used on various platform upon changing design of stand. I think it can also be used with one roller-unit centering hole of a bobbin(like many designs for prusa i3).
#spool_holder, #spool_roller

it’s nice, but it there is a risk of skinny spools toppling over.

I’d be tempted to add a tapered shape towards the middle so spools will ‘self center’ after they turn and not drift off to one side if something isn’t even.
Like the rest of the design.

@Electra_Flarefire is right. Might want to add a way to recenter the roll.

@Electra_Flarefire It is good idea! I haven’t thought about it. Thank you for comment

It might act more like a belt on a roller, where as the middle is a larger diameter as the belts"climb" the incline. Goggle it for a better description:)

Can you share the STL for it ?

:slight_smile:

@Adam_Milton-Barker I’ll share the files soon, on Thingiverse maybe.

Commenting so I see when it gets posted. Please also consider posting to @YouMagine and Repables

@DongWon_Han_DWONH
Thanks I was looking on there last night. Let me know when you have it please I’m beta testing the Mico3D so will good to give it a test out. At the moment I have to load the filament externally so need a good one of these.

Looks good, want something like this to mount to the top of my printer!

@Adam_Milton-Barker I uploaded files at Thingiverse

Thank you for your interest and comment.

Thanks :smiley: Will download now.

I think this may take some time, at the moment the beta team are working on sections and the speeds are down low until they are happy with some fixes, the estimated time for some of the pats is 9hours + so Im starting with the smaller pieces first. I will let you know how it goes on, it is not a production printer yet. Thanks for sharing though.

How many different spool widths are there these days? I’m guessing dozens, but I could be wrong.

@Tony_Olivo I have not used youMagine so far, I just registered. Is there any reason people prefer(if they do) youMagine over Thingiverse? . I’m guessing it is because Makerbot merged by big muscle and go closed & exclusive?

@DongWon_Han_DWONH
Pretty much. There have also been some questions raised (don’t know how valid) about the licensing terms for things put up on Thingiverse.

Yup, @paul_wallich has basically got it. Just trying to spread the ecosystem. My other beef with Thingiverse is the customizer. Not in the feature itself so much as the search gets cluttered with “My customized…” and you can’t find other things you’re looking for.
