This looks like a pretty decent concept, but I’m a noob. I’d love to hear others’ opinions.

It doesn’t look to bad at all. It’s using a standard Sanguinololu board, not good for expansion, but standard and has lots of support in various forums. It’s using belted z axis instead of threads which I’m very interested in trying. The have a frame made from extrusion which give it moot rigidity which is important. I am however concerned about z stability during tall prints. They didn’t show much video of printing and nothing of substantial height. I’m curious as to whether the xz gantry will twist as the z gets high and the x goes back and forth. If the extruder and nozzle mass is centered OK, it won’t be an issue. I’m assuming they eliminated all the linear bearings for cost and replaced with 608 deep groove skate bearings riding on the rail. Does anybody else know the durability of the bearings on the rail. I know the cyclic movement will eventually wear out the surface if the aluminum extrusion, but not sure if that would happen in the life of the printer. I have read on some Rostock forums that some people had excessive wear when they ride the bearing in the groove of the extrusion because the contact patch was so small. Overall, looks good for the price point. I’d ask to see more video of prints, especially abs. I have a heated bed but it is inadequate for abs. The designer of the Kickstarter I got my printer from did not grasp the electrical theory to spec out the correct hardware. So in order for me to heat the need hot enough for abs, I need a higher voltage separate power supply. I’ll be honest though, after being burned by the pitfalls of a 3d printer Kickstarter, I’d prefer to go with a purchased kit. Much less risk and aggravation, especially for a first printer. I s lucky enough to have a few people that built theirs before me, but i was still close to hulk smashing my printer several times. Still happens occasionally. Good luck whatever you decide. I hope these guys succeed, as it looks pretty nice for the price
