This one weird trick can save your prints
Those of you who are running your printers from a Windows (7) computer might have run into the issue of Windows Update rebooting your computer mid-print. You can change that behavior to be less aggressive so that it never reboots without explicit confirmation by adding this simple registry tweak. All it does is change this one value, which you can do manually or by using the .reg file lined from Google Drive below:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
“NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers”=dword:00000001

Nice no more waking up from coding the night before to a reboot

Considering how many bogus ads I see for insurance and weight loss using the same phrase I almost didn’t get past the ‘This one weird trick…’ part of your post. I am glad I did though.
looks like it should work in 8 also - I hope
The Windows settings for turning off updates and reboots did not seem to work for me. It always updated and rebooted anyways. Congrats on finding that. Microsoft should have been taken to court over that BS long ago.
