This printer owes me nothing.

This printer owes me nothing. (Although at this scale, the sword is just a tower of drool)…The Motherland Calls is 280feet tall…mine, less so, though it maxes out the build envelope in Z

Ooze much? Lower your temp and work on the retraction a bit.

Oh, wow! You’re right @Ryan_Hescock_Stanos . At first glance I thought it was support, but when I zoomed-in it became clear they were speeder-webs instead :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a little of both, @Woody_Williams and pretty much ANY level of retract had the print failing 3-4 hours in…if the difference between a 4 hour failure and an 8.5 hour success is a little cleanup, I’m good with that.

(The next printer won’t have a Bowden and WILL have air blowing on the print.)

@Mike_Miller retraction is an option but so is lower temperature, slower speed or less extrusion. All of those are more likely a major culprit of yours than retraction IMHO.

Unless you’re running an odd-ball retraction setting, look elsewhere first.

[Edit: I did notice your nearly invisible support surrounded by those speeder-webs :)]

Calibration is the key (always is). There’re X-Y-Z & E calibrations that MUST be met.

So, wait a minute… That’s PLA without a print fan? When you said it would fail when tweaking extraction-levels, what kind of failure was it?

Starvation and porosity. I can get prints that are reasonably clean, I just have a Budget of <2 hour print times for them. I’ve also had prints that took 4 hours, with retract, with a single failure in the middle (was able to recover and continue to print).

At those points, I’m not sure if it’s retract, or a momentary loss in quality of the filament.

I’ve reached the point where the troubleshooting is multiple-hours into a print. This print nearly failed when an edge was curling up (something that wouldn’t happen if the plastic was cooled quickly after extrusion), but I haven’t found (or learned to build) a fan duct for a 3DR I like.

How tall?

About 160 mm build envelope is 160mm diameter, 170mm height

Shame it’s that wide, otherwise I could to a ~540mm one on the Cerberus. XD

I’m thinking I may play with slicing it up into pieces… http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:181272
