I will be using a Nema 23 with a gear box for the x-axis, a Nema 34 for the Z and 2, 425 oz-in Nema 23s for the Y

Awesome. I definitely support the twin motors for Y. I have dealt with racking on mine using a single motor. Not fun.

I only have about 4.5 inches of z axis work room for this now. But I built it so I can switch out the z axis gantry beams for longer ones, when needed

Are you planning on a 4th axis? Given general bit lengths, 4.5 inches seems like a lot.

You need to get the full length of your ball screw mounts (as precise as possible) and probably build custom mounts. This is where a 3d cad would come in handy
