Designed for Rigidbot 2 and ReliaBuild 3D printers or any Rigidbot upgraded with the new 4E3D heated bed PCB this cover can likely be adapted to a lot of other printers where the bed contacts are exposed.
Yes, covering them with blue painters tape (if you use it) is a simple alternative but this provides a more permanent solution that is still removable. It has worked well for me with many hours of printing up to 70C on the beds. No warping and a nice snug fit is maintained at the end of the session.
