Thoughts on the East 3D Gecko CoreXY?

The frame seems decently built and the mechanics look clean. I like the linear guides on X&Y, not sure about moving the whole gantry in Z though, especially with roller wheels…

Bed is static with (I think) 3 point leveling, always a plus.

Hotend is probably a V6 knockoff?
Electronics look pretty nice, but I’ve heard the Lerdge board can be unreliable?

Overall, 300mm coreXY w/heated bed seems like a pretty decent deal for the price, but would like to hear other opinions, particularly if you’ve seen one in person.

They are using a lerdge board, which is closed source. Would not touch that with a 10 feet pole.

Moving the CoreXY axes up and down instead of the bed doesn’t help anything. It seems like a gimmick to me. The machine does look nice and clean.

Moving the XY instead of the bed does give you a constant suspended mass. The bed varies as material is deposited there.

@Wylie_Hilliard but you need to make sure your xy frame is mounted properly so it doesn’t move with the head?

@Thomas_Balu_Walter True, but that also applies to the bed. The extruder head puts considerable force in multiple directions on the part, but inertia is working in your favor in that case.
