Today I got the first of my printers for evaluation at work. I Got a LulzBot TAZ3. So far I have to say this thing is fantastic. From box to print it took 1.5 hours, and I was eating lunch at the same time. It took longer to configure and install Slic3r on my work laptop and get the Rambo Drivers installed then it did to setup and level the bed.

As far as build quality goes its amazing.Zero warping in any of the parts, with fantastic fit up. No nut seats are used and every part that takes a thread uses a threaded insert for great ease of assembly.

Like I said I was printing within 1.5 hours. The first print was kind of shakey, but I expected that, the office its in is fairly drafty.

Overall the impressions I have and my co-workers had are very positive. The form and function are far better then our MakerBot2X. The thing doesnt sound like it’s going to shake apart for one thing. The printer is very stiff and stable. I was even able to pick it up and move it to a different desk while it was printing without a hiccup.

Thanks
@Steven_Abadie @Claudio_Donndelinger @Aeva_Palecek for taking the time to talk to me at MRRF. You guys make good stuff!

Where do you work that you get the cool toys?

You made it by yourself?

Nope this one is a LulzBot TAZ3 from LulzBot. I think the coolest thing about it was that the SD card comes preloaded with all the source files for the whole machine. So you can make your own LulzBot! Or fix this one.

Also I forgot to mention I showed the machine to the guy who runs our RP shop. He didn’t believe me that the parts weren’t made on a Fortus or similar level machine.

Looks great!

@LulzBot

Thank you for the kind words @Joe_Spanier , we’re glad to hear you love your TAZ! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team by emailing support@lulzbot.com or calling +1-970-377-1111.

Speaking of moving the printer while it runs, this video is an oldie but goodie of @James_Bruton playing with one of our past generation printers: http://youtu.be/WHaB_fLfS4w?t=4m7s :slight_smile:
