Today I printed something for +3D Hubs.

Today I printed something for +3D Hubs. On the left 0.2mm without infill, the other two are printed with 0.1mm and 10% infill (Graber i3, PLA, no support). Any idea how I can raise the print quality in the area around the eyes?

Add a fan. The object is really small, meaning you’re going to have a lot of heat radiating from the nozzle. Make sure it’s not so much that your hot end fails to extrude though.

Definitely add a fan. I have two 40mm fans running full blast pointed at a 45° angle down at the printed part as it’s printing on my Graber i3.

I printed this Marvin figure with ABS on Marerbot Replicator 2x. It was impossible to print without fan. I got superb quality just by putting 6" USB powered fan outside the build area. I also lowered the speed to 30/50.

A fan is a must on something small like that. I’m not sure what slicing software your using but I found that slic3r didn’t like that model very much. Cura seems to slice it much better.

Guess we were all printing this little guy these days. I just hit three copies so the layer had time to settle, speed 30mm/s, 0,2mm, ABS, no fan. One of mines https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B73C_MyFsgfxSnJreEV6WGtVMWM/edit?usp=sharing

@Matej_Rozman That’s what I tried to do. But my extruder cannot handle too much retraction. :frowning:

@enhydra I dont think extruder is responsibe for retraction? But you newer know. Can you please tell me what dimension of filament you use?

I’ve printed 2 Marvins at once. Layer height is 0.2mm infill 0.1 and I have one cooling fan. I put these 2 models further apart to prevent overheating PLA.https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OpknNt7IF9I/U5rW2BnyNDI/AAAAAAAACL0/hhDW7gbgISM/w816-h543-no/3D-Hub2.JPG

@enhydra Rotating Marvin (in the xy-plane) as to look into the fan helps as well. Good thing is that the fan then blows between the legs also which can be a tricky overhang

@3D_Hubs OK, I’ll try the next time.
