Today I was learning how to use LaserWeb4 with my newly installed C3D. I’m trying to understand all the settings I need to have for the K40 laser. I was playing with the settings using the coaching recommended on…
http://cohesion3d.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000726545-laserweb-configuration

The program was working fine, I had played with the jogging got home set and working. Real close to trying to install and run a simple rectangle in G-Code.

I was playing under Setting ->Machine -> Machine Height and decided I would see if I could input minus 200mm instead of a plus 200mm. No…No… it doesn’t like that and cell highlighted red. In trying to get out of it and back to plus 200mm the program locked up on me. The flashing “|” was no longer flashing and nothing else on the screen responded. I could not close the program and had to pull the plug and battery to shut down the computer. This is the win10 Dell not the other one I was having problems with a win7pro).

When I restarted the computer I tried to open LaserWeb and it will not open. It goes through part of the opening process and flashes the black boarder then goes to the white screen in the picture below and eventually it will, after 5 plus mins., let you click out (no messages). It’s only a problem on the LW screen, I can open up other screens and programs and they function fine… even when the LW screen is open and hung up.

I’m running a full scan on the computer right now to make sure that it is clear of trouble.

Any suggestions at this point would be helpful as I’m stuck.

Sorry I left this info out.

Things I’ve tried:

Restart.

Deleted and reloading the program off Github (now 731) 3 times.

Checked other programs for functionality (like Fusion360)

That’s a very strange situation. I just downloaded the lastest version no issues.
You would be the second user with issues under Win7.
Do you have any other OS to test?

No sorry you misunderstood, I loaded it in a win10 OS. I have two different laptops. The one I’m having this problem with is the Dell win10 and the pic I took was of its screen.

The original download ( .730) was working and is the one that first froze up and is continuing to hang up now on booting up the program ends up with the screen in the picture.

I deleted the program from the HD and reloaded (.731)it (x3) with this same thing happening.

Later today I tried loading it on the other laptop with win7 and it loads and opens but I cannot access the ‘settings’.
I think that is a computer issue but not sure. It’s the reason I went to the win10 OS computer.

I’m at a loss. It’s odd that it worked for a time then froze.

Got any suggestion??

As I said latest build from https://github.com/LaserWeb/LaserWeb4-Binaries/releases work perfectly under win10, so this must be something on your side. Disable windows firewall maybe it’s preventing you from loading the app correctly

Yes, I agree, its more than likely something on this side. I did try disabling windows firewall earlier and just now did so again…but it still will not work. I’ll try uploading it on the wife’s computer in the morning.

@Steve_Clark I had a similar issue a few days ago with LaserWeb4 locking up on me. I was able to load the interface, but nothing past that. Try this and see if it fixes your issue; move http://lw.comm-server out of c:\users%username%\appdata\Roaming, and start up laserweb. If that fixes it, you’ll need to go through your settings and make sure everything is set properly again.

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty Maybe is related to localstorage and electron https://github.com/segmentio/nightmare/issues/456

@Jorge_Robles is there a way to prevent this or maybe a fix?

I will think a workaround at home

ROBIN! That worked! lw is setting on my desktop and I’ve opened LW three times and restarted without issue. Thank you!

When you said to go through settings I assuming you mean in LW?

That was on my win10 laptop I’m going to see if that solves the problem I’m having on my other laptop with win7pro. I’ll you know.

Now what do I do with lw.comm sitting on my desktop??

Gotta love this group! Wooo Wooo…

Ugh, it’s difficult to debug if it involves the server. Then maybe the server instance is running and then should throw server in use exception @cprezzi

Just a follow up…It did not fix a different issue (settings will not open) on the other win7 laptop. I believe it is a completely different problem in that OS.

@Steve_Clark click on about tab, then there’s a debug bar on bottom
It that works, please capture the errors shown in console to find the issue. Thanks

@Steve_Clark glad I could help! I just deleted the http://lw.com-server after I confirmed that it fixed the issue. I may have re-installed LaserWeb4 after moving it out of the original folder though. Not sure if it gets recreated automatically on opening or not. And yes, I was talking about laserweb settings.

@Robin_Sieders from all the loading and dumping I’ve done it appears to be recreated each time.

Again thanks…

@Jorge_Robles Sorry I posts the errors on the wrong site. Here they are.

2nd pic

@Steve_Clark seems some is deep broken there. Those two screens imply there’s a WebGL error and VideoCapture service is not there (weird, probably a sideffect, 2nd pick was earlier than the first judging your clock  ) @Todd_Fleming

It definitely looks like WebGL failed to initialize. Can you try this site? https://www.shadertoy.com/view/XsBXWt
