Today’s fun adventure
That looks encouraging indeed. It appears that the last photo indicates a nicely flat and securely bonded layer of PEI. Nicely done.
First try
I thought for sure i was gonna break something lol
In place replace! Wow.
Yeup fixing to finish my first print on this new PEI
Nice one. Doing it in-place was fine?
What amazed me after going the above a couple of weeks ago (off-printer – I’ll be braver next time) is how different the new PEI is to the worn-out PEI. Prints (esp. ABS) stick better, and, oddly, come off much easier once the bed cools. I hadn’t really noticed the slow degradation (I do a lot of printing), but I certainly noticed the sudden step-change after replacing the PEI.
Oh yeah they come off 10X easier! Specially after spraying the base with IPA to loosen the part
pops right off lol

What did you use to remove the adhesive? It doesn’t look like the d-limonene that Prusa recommended is an opinion on your shelf of cleaning choices. I think Prusa also has maintenance instructions so the surface stays good at holding the part. It’s lower maintenance than most other surfaces but it does require an occasional surface treatment and cleaning.
I used goo gone which has like 10% limonene and i used a scraper to remove the adhesive with extreme caution so as not to damage any if the sensitive traces. Once i got most of the adhesive off i used 91% IPA and paper towels to clean off the rest till i had a smooth adhesive free surface. Gave it one last wipe with IPA and applied the new PEI. I usually wipe the PEI with 91% IPA before every print to ensure good adhesion. You really just need to wipe the area you are fixing to use for small prints. No point in wiping the whole printer if youre not using all of it
From what I’ve read elsewhere be careful not to get limonene on the ABS cover at the back of the bed, and don’t let it dribble underneath the bed or your temp sensor may fall off.
I have a PETG cover on it with my PETG cable chains
I better check those components when i get home thou. That would totally suck lol
