Took upon the challenge to print Make Magazine’s Rook torture test stl for SLA printers at 0.050 mm layer height!

I’m surprised it actually came out this well (yes there’s some room for improvement, this is a first attempt). Mind you, this is also without a cooling fan  Obviously not the same quality as you would get on an SLA printer, but still pretty good. We will re-run this print again with some tweaks to the Cura settings and see if we can improve it even more… I think we can.

The stairs came out pretty good as well. I’ll take a few more pictures of it and post them later. The spiral in the middle had some stringing between the two strands, probably because retraction was 0.20 mm on a bowden setup, so going to try it at 0.25 mm retraction distance next time.

Print settings:
Layer height: 0.050 mm
Speed: 20 mm/sec
Temperature: 175 C
Infill: 50%

Nice!

That’s pretty amazing with no,cooling fan, I may be running my hot end too hot (~195-198). What was the printer/filament combination?
